The End of Blogging as We Know It.

Welp everyone, as all good things must come to an end, so must posts and updates on this blog. It’s been fun right? I feel like I have asked questions similar to that one a lot in the past few posts, but that really doesn’t matter. What does matter is that I’m graduating in a…

The Last Literature Crusade.

Welp guys, it is the final Literature essay. We’ve come a long way here right? One thing’s for sure, and that is that we have been doing this longer than Western Civ, so this is more hard to say goodbye to. Anyways, this essay is on The Enneads which discusses Neoplatonism and how it came…

What Binding of Isaac is.

I want my audience to listen!

The idea of this is to tell what this game is.

Hello there! How are all of you? HELLO!? I SAID HOW ARE ALL OF YOU!? Good? Good! So I’ve noticed that some of you are all like “what is this game you’re always watching during lunch? Should we call security?” No you shouldn’t!

Now that that’s out of the way let me explain what this is going to be about. This is going to be about me explaining what the game “The Binding of Isaac” is. I’ll be talking about its story and gameplay.

The story of the game is pretty interesting. The story follows a little boy named Isaac and his mother. Isaac’s mom is christian (getting interested now?) and begins to hear a voice, who is God, telling her that sin has taken over Isaac’s life and that he needs to be saved. Mom says yes and takes away Isaac’s clothes, toys, and drawings, and later locks him in his room. Isaac then finds a trapdoor under the rug in his room. Isaac opens the hatch and just as his mother comes in he jumps down and winds up in a basement. But what exactly happens to him next?

What happens next revolves around the gameplay. The gameplay starts out with you in the basement, but uh-oh, looks like there’s monsters in the basement. So how do you defend yourself? Well, you defend yourself by finding items that will help you get stronger and power your run, though some items are bad or just aren’t worth taking. There’s also coins used for buying stuff in shops, bombs used for blowing up rocks to hopefully find more loot or walls to find secret rooms, and keys used for getting in item rooms, shops, vaults, dice rooms, and libraries. Also you have limited health so don’t get hit much. There are also bosses in the game that when defeated drop an item and will allow you to progress to the next floor. As you probably guessed before religion is a HUGE part of this game. What do I mean? I’ll explain. There are items that reference items from the Bible. There are also devil deals in which you can trade some of your heart containers or soul hearts for strong items, or if the items aren’t strong, and you refuse the first devil deal, you’ll have a chance to get an angel deal! Unlike devil deals, angel deals offer free items that can be very strong but, most people choose devil deals for strong items early on. Even most of the playable characters names are references to people in the Bible like Cain, Judas, Eve, Samson, Lazarus, Magdalene (Mary Magdalene) the list goes on! Some characters have names that reference to demons in the Bible such as Azazel, Lilith, and Apollyon. There is even a character called Eden who is obviously a reference to the Garden of Eden.

So yes The Binding of Isaac sounds interesting and there is still a lot to talk about but I won’t get into that today. But that is all but, there is one more question to ask. Does this game sound interesting to you?
